yesterday i went to the mall (ugh) in search of a wallet. and maybe a good sale at jcrew. if nothing else, somewhere cool and air conditioned. nope. all the wallets were ugly leather ones that my grandma would carry. jcrew had a good sale on bathing suits, but all the bottoms were size large, and the tops size small. uh, no. the air conditioning at jcrew was broken and the dressing rooms were little ovens. maybe they were trying to replicate the weather where you'd be wearing the suit? it was miserable.
but i did hear some interesting (well, kinda) music - walked into macy's from the parking garage (you have to go into macy's from the garage i parked in. i hate macy's). what do i hear? wilson phillips. 'hold on'. hahahahaHA! oh geez. i was in 8th grade again. i was frightened to discover i still knew the lyrics. i can't remember what time my doctor's appointment is today, yet i know the lyrics to a wilson phillips song? in jcrew i heard john mayer's 'no such thing'. it still trips me out to hear this guy on the radio. he is still that guy that we all heard off jenn's burned cd in charlottesville last year. finally, in american eagle, i heard the dave matthews band - 'where are you going'. now, hearing that doesn't suprise me, but, because i don't really listen to the radio (except npr), i somehow forget how big they are. then on the way out (back through macy's) i heard omd's 'if you leave'...reminding me of a very fun time in my life - the month before i left for college. friends and i would listen to this song quite a bit then. the anticipation. the anxiousness. the anguish of leaving my friends. the excitment of something new. i guess some of the same feelings i have been going through lately. i was embarassed that i felt tears in my eyes. shit. emotions.
If you leave, don't leave now
Please don't take my heart away
Promise me just one more night
Then we'll go our separate ways
With hours left time on our sides
Now it's fading fast
Every second every moment
We've got to--we've gotta make it last
I touch you once
I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we'd still be friends someday
If you leave I won't cry
I won't waste one single day
But if you leave don't look back
I'll be running the other way
Seven years went under the bridge
Like time was standing still
Heaven knows what happens now
You've got to--you've gotta say you will
I touch you once I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we'd meet again
I touch you once I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we'd still be friends
I touch you once I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we'd meet again someday
